Amaechi-Presidency Brawl Takes A New Turn

The governor of Rivers State Rotimi
Amaechi answered to a statement from
the Presidency which accused him of
irresponsible "political rascality".

He says President Goodluck Jonathan has no
right to threaten him.

Responding to the comments, the Rivers State
Commissioner for Information and
Communication, Ibim Semenitari said
Governor Amaechi is an elected official and
Jonathan isn't his prefect.

She also blamed Presidential spokesman
Reuben Abati for failing to get his facts
correct before issuing the statement despite
his wealth of experience.

Semenitari alarmed Abati to know "his limits
and need not attempt to cross his
boundaries."

She added that Amaechi never mentioned the
name of neither the President nor his wife,
Patience, during his speech at the APC rally,
and questioned where the presidency got its
information from.

"I would want to say that the Presidential
Spokesman should be careful for the kind of
threats he issues to an elected Governor," she
said.

"He should remember that the President is
not a prefect of the governor. He was elected
as President just as the Governor was elected
as a governor, and Nigeria is a federation.

"It is a bit strange to hear the kind of
comments coming out of the Presidency and
this showed that the statement was already
prepared before governor Amaechi spoke.
Semenitari continued, "At no point in his
speech did Governor Amaechi make any
references. His wife was not even discussed
because she is not an official of government.

"I do not understand where or how Mr. Abati
got his story, so we just take it that this is one
of those clear indications of rascality with the
Presidency trying to call a dog a bad name
and hang it".

The governor of the Rivers State Rotimi
Amaechi on Saturday during his rally blamed
Jonathan and his administration of fiasco to
implement the projects introduced by him, of
cheering corruption.

The politician also said
that his problems with Dame Patience began
when he rejected to share "Rivers people's
money" with her.

The first lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan,
denied a statement credited to Governor
Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State that she asked
him to share the state's funds with her.

President Goodluck Jonathan also reacted
and has warned Governor Rotimi Amaechi to
stop what he called "political rascality and
blackmail."
